The Atom Bomb Tree:
Sue Atkins remembers a large tree near
her house in the south part of Olivet. It was nicknamed "The Atom Bomb". Some alums have said they remember it, others don't.
There was some doubt about the actual location, but using two old photos taken from high up in the tree, we were able to triangulate the location, indicated above. Pine trees can
live for 100 to 1,000 years, so the Atom Bomb could still be there. If you have any knowledge about, or especially photos of the Atom Bomb, please share with us. And if you plan to travel
to Orleans, some current photos would be greatly appreciated.
